Sorting Through the Clutter
If you somehow were able to unearth my diary amidst the clutter of my room, then you would probably find something like this...

Ridiculous.

How often how I update my blog. It's ridiculous. I sometimes forget I even have a blog.

Mid-summer now - lots of things have happened in the past couple of months. I'll update later in another post. Too lazy right now.

I realize I am living life one day at a time. Is that bad? Should I plan a little bit? Apparently, I'm not the planning type though. I need to hire a planner..wonder if life planners exist? :P

Yesterday, Jason told me that the reason why there are so few females in high-paying executive positions is because they cannot explain their thoughts properly and rely too often on their feelings. I was so pissed! What the hell kinda caveman thought is that? Grrrr...

Must confront and demand an explanation. How insulting...

I found out the other day that this guy that I used to be friends with was spreading lies about me. He was telling everyone that would listen that we used to date.

He was a really good friend of mine. We got along great, always had a fun time...it really could've turned into one of those lifelong friendships. Turned out he had ulterior motives. And then that was the end of that. Unsalvageable because of the incredible sense of awkwardness afterwards.

I confronted him. I told him to stop spreading lies about me. He laughs it off and says that he has no idea where those rumours are coming from. I tell him that someone heard him refer to me as "someone he used to date". And then that someone told me.

What a liar. I can't believe I ever considered him a good friend.

I don't have the patience, nor the energy to do this right now.

Sorry. I have things to sort out first.

It's a really uncomfortable feeling when something you've been taught as true since childhood becomes false. Perhaps I'm using the wrong word. I don't necessarily mean 'false', but maybe 'not so true'. I guess what I'm trying to say is that things you learn during childhood (especially in school) are things that you deem as absolute. Things like the multiplication table, the colours of a rainbow, the solar system.

But when a bunch of people meet in Prague and change the definition of a planet and you find out that Pluto no longer counts, it just makes your whole world a little more shaky and uncertain, and well...just not so absolute.

It never occured to me that what we learn as a child, we take as truth without question. It is not until high school or university, we are taught to question what we learn. We learn to debate philosophical truths and we want proof of scientific laws. It makes sense in retrospect, because as a child, we lack the logic and capacity to question what we learn. So shouldn't what we learn in elementary school be absolute?

I remember the first time a crack appeared in my absolute childhood truths: "What do you mean we have THREE territories in Canada?! There are only TWO: Yukon and Northwest. We learned that in grade 5 Geography class. What the heck is Nunavut?!"

Or what about when I learned that there's no such thing as a Brontosaurus? The gentle giant of a herbivore is actually called an Apatosaurus. Should I throw out all my childhood artwork of the giant dinoasaur with the proud caption of "BRONTOSAURUS" in capital letters. (Well, if I HAD actually kept my childhood artwork).

Eight planets?! What is this world coming to? Actually, what is this solar system coming to?

Makes me want to question everything I learned as a child.

I have nothing interesting to blog about.

I'm trying to get back into rockclimbing, after a 10 month hiatus.

And Spring has sprung! Even though it's so cold still. It's the annoying in between period when it's too cold to spend too much time outdoors, but it's so sunny that you don't think you should be spending the day indoors.

I've spent way too much money in the past week. I didn't even intend to really buy anything when I went with S to Sherway but I ended up spending more than I should've on this beautiful winter coat. I know! Winter is over..why am I buying a winter coat??? But it was too gorgeous to pass up on...and I can save it for next winter.

The Neverending White Lights concert on Wednesday was good! Cheap tickets for some good live music.

I am sick today. I thought I was just tired when I woke up yesterday but by mid-afternoon I had succumbed to a full-on flu (fever, chills, and everything). I have soooo much work to do too. This sucks rocks.

Wow, that was the most random blog entry ever.

It must break God's heart when He looks down at His creation...

And sees us hurting each other the way we do.

I'm thinking much more than I should be. I'm overthinking, I think. Haha...that sounded dumb.

"I'm overthinking, I think."

Want to know why I am blogging? Because I have time today. Why do I have time today? Because I am SICK!! Crappola. Being sick during the holidays sucks rocks. I was supposed to go into work today. I was planning on working today so I can take next Friday off. I hope my boss still gives me the day off.

Because next Friday, I'll be flying down the powdery slopes of Vermont! Now, let's just hope that the folks at Killington don't go getting any smart ideas from Tremblant.

Ever feel like you just want to throw in the towel?

Tuesday, September 27, 2005

It's like I'm never satisfied. For me, the other side of the fence is always greener. No matter how many times I hop the fence. I'm a perpetual fence-hopper.

A couple of months ago, I had wished for something to stir up this stagnant day-to-day routine. There I was, still living in the same house I had lived in since I was four, getting up every morning at 6:47am to sit in traffic for half an hour, so that I could work my ass off for 9 hours, only to sit in traffic again for another hour, to arrive home to the same house I had lived in since I was four.

Holy crap, I was stuck in a rut.

So I wished for something to get me out of this rut. And boy did ever get what I wished for. It seemed like in a matter of a couple of weeks, my life was turned upside down, inside out.

I was pulled out of my home and thrown halfway across the country. The bf and I broke up. I was booked up to my eyeballs in travel for the month of September.

I longed for stillness in the middle of all the chaos. People that I know always say that I'm a partier - a little social butterfly who flits around from one event to the next. But the real me is someone who wants to come home, curl up next to the one I love, light a fire in a stone fireplace, and disappear into a good book. Pathetic sounding? Maybe. But if you think I'm pathetic, then so be it. 'Cause I'd still be happy.
