Sorting Through the Clutter If you somehow were able to unearth my diary amidst the clutter of my room, then you would probably find something like this... |

Sunday, August 07, 2005 It's a beautiful weekend in St. John's. I'm so glad I've decided to live with Amanda and Steve here. They're awesome. So the first week here was a little lonely. I was in a hotel up until Friday night. So after work, I was mainly occupied with finding a place to live and just shopping for other necessities. I moved into the apartment Friday night and spent the evening chatting with my new roommates. Saturday, I spent with Amanda, her friends Manju and Adam at the Newfoundland Busker Festival. Very entertaining! K told me about Busker festivals a while back, and it was very cool to see them in person. A busker is basically a street performer, mainly of French backgrounds. The day was gorgeous too! I love the scenery here....mountains and cliffs and ocean views. We spent the rest of the afternoon, on a patio, on George St (the most densely populated bar street in North America) and enjoyed the sun and the conversation. I learned a lot about Newfoundland history and Newfoundland food. There's so much to know! I'm going to have to start writing it down or something. That night, Amanda and Steve invited over a whole crew of their friends. We had fun laughing, drinking, and chatting. It was great to meet their friends. Seriously, Newfoundlanders are so nice. I found this nice church that I went to this morning. People are there are really nice but I'm not sure about the language differences. They speak mostly Mandarin so I'm not sure if I'm going to stay at that church. I might check out another one next week. Definitely different lifestyle over here. Small town activities, which is a nice change from the hectic city life. Labels: Globetrotting posted by Jenn | 3:39 PM | |
