Sorting Through the Clutter
If you somehow were able to unearth my diary amidst the clutter of my room, then you would probably find something like this...

The long weekend was crazy, in more ways than one.

We left on Saturday morning and encountered insane traffic. Finally got into Montreal around 8 pm. We checked into our hotel and before we even drive a block away from the hotel, a car comes racing out of a intersection and slams into the side of our car. Everyone walked out of the car without injuries but it was pretty surreal. Not the best way to start off the weekend. Umair was great though...very chill about the whole thing even though it was his rental car. He was like, Sh*t happens. By 11 pm, the accident was out of our minds and we were hitting the club district of downtown Montreal. The Montreal Jazz Festival was happening. The energy was definitely apparent in the night air. We walked around for a bit and then decided to go to Jet Nightclub. It was everyone's elses first time there. I was there for 2002 New year's eve so I knew it was going to be good. At the end of the night, everyone was raving about how good the club was. Every single song was good. Monica's words: I wanted to pick up the club, pack it up and move it to Toronto.

We woke up Tuesday and went downtown to shop. Left Montreal in the afternoon to make our way to Umair's place in Ottawa. Settled in, freshened up and hit the pubs in Byward Market. We went to this mega-pub called "The Heart and Crown". It was a maze of 3 floors and patios. Live bands and cool night air.

The rest of the group was supposed to meet up with us that night. Turned out that our accident in Montreal paled in comparison to their accident. Broken arms, stitches, burns, and bruises. And a totalled car. Luckily no serious injuries. Everyone was able to walk away. Everyone was pretty melancholy on Monday morning. We chilled at Umair's place and later went on a private tour of the Parliament (cuz of hookups...Tyler works inside the Parliament bulding). Afterwards, we went to this classy, open-concept restaurant called Blue Cactus. Excellent food. We hit up a pub called "The Whiskey Bar" at night. That was alright. We left around midnight and went to MTL& Co, a club in the market distract. Much much better venue.

Tuesday morning was bright and early. We went to Parliament Hill to check out the afternoon concert. Amanda Marshall and company. That was excellent. I love Amanda Marshall, so imagine my surprise. Not feeling her new stuff but I loved her older songs from the Tuesday Child CD. Rested up at home and then went back out for the amazing pyrotechnic show at Parliament Hil. Breathtakingly beautiful.

Darren drove a bunch of us back home right afterwards and we had the most interesting car convo. About the "ladder theory". Basically, the girls have two ladders: a friendship ladder and a "potential guy" ladder. Guys only have one ladder: the "potential" ladder. So ladies, never trust a guy's intention if you guys are friends; there is no such thing as a platonic relationship from a guy's point of view. Many many facets to this theory. More than I can explain. So if you want to debate this theory, contact me. If you have thoughts, shout it out.
