Monday, June 23, 2003 The weekend was sooooooo amazing! Holy MAC-Row blew everyone at the Toronto Dragonboat Festival away with our team spirit and our crazy team dance! Too bad there wasn't any prize for most spirited team....but we still placed THIRD place in the University B Division Cup! WOOHOO!! It's the first year ever that a McMaster dragonboat team every got into the University finals and the first year ever to PLACE in a university final. We got to perform our team dance on the awards podium and all. What a display of team spirit. The second place team didn't even want to go up and receive their plaque because they knew we were a hard act to follow. (I'm sorry if I sound incredibly cocky right now, but I'm just so proud of our team) ...inhale...exhale...pause... OK, now that I got all that excitement out of our system, I can write a little more calmly. The day didn't begin on such a good note. The first race we rowed was in the commmunity division. Not only did we not place, we didn't even beat our personal best. Our coach was pretty pissed. But I can't blame him, I even felt like we were rowing backwards. Our heart wasn't in the race. So after our coach yelled some sense of focus into us, we were pretty pumped for our second race of the day - the University B division finals. Originally, we were marshalled into the 4th lane. But then for some reason, they called us all out to re-arrange the race lane assignments. We were re-assigned into the 3rd lane. I knew it was a sign. My lucky number is number 3. Think about it. We won 3rd place while racing in the 3rd lane. Haha..or maybe I'm just looking way too much into it. Pictures will be posted soon. Keep your eyes out for it :) posted by Jenn | 10:39 AM | |
