Sorting Through the Clutter If you somehow were able to unearth my diary amidst the clutter of my room, then you would probably find something like this... |

Sunday, May 04, 2003 Sorry for not updating for awhile. It's been a wonderful (and busy) birthday week. I've never felt so loved and spoiled in my life. If you're interested, below are the highlights of the past week. Saturday: Went to the Quarters (McMaster's campus pub)with the Mac crew to celebrate the end of exams and my upcoming birthday. Drank a little too much. Had a fun, but blurry night. Monday: Went to Quarters for the "year-end bash". This time, only had one drink. Saturday scared me. :P Tuesday:Will took me out to a birthday lunch at Rude Native Bistro. (Yummmm..) At night, I went out with some people from CCF for dinner at Kelsey's to celebrate Tiffany (who happens to have the same birthday as me!!) and my birthday. Delicious banana-vanilla ice cream cake. Wednesday:Andrew (the sweetest boyfriend in the world) invited my friends from back home up to Hamilton to surprise me for dinner at La Cantina. Ohmigoodness, was I surprised!! It's a long story, but since it's my blog, I'm allowed to go off on long-winded tangents. Basically, Andrew pretended that he had nothing planned for my birthday. He called me up at 5:00 pm and told me that we would go down to Jackson Square to shop for my birthday gift. I told him that Jackson Square closed at 6:00 pm on Wednesdays. "Oh." he said, "I guess you won't get your birthday gift today". I was slightly miffed, but it's just a late birthday gift, so I brushed it off. We got down to the Hamilton downtown core and we proceeded to wander around for 20 minutes (mind you, it was cold that day), looking for a restaurant. After awhile, I started getting pretty pissed off. He could've at least had the decency to make a reservation at a restaurant. To add to my increasing annoyance, he started making all these ridiculous dinner suggestions. "How about we eat at the grill right next to the adult entertainment complex, I bet we can get a free dinner show too". After a few more blocks, I spotted La Cantina. I had been there once and enjoyed it immensely. So with a sigh of annoyance, I suggested we just have dinner there. La Cantina is divided into two different dining concepts. (Check out the website for more information.) I choose the upscale dining room and the maitre'd showed us to a table. As I'm about to sit down, Andrew exclaims "Hey, aren't those your friends over there?!" My jaw dropped to the floor in shock. Andrew had it planned all along. And I fell for it - hook, line, and sinker. Boy, did I feel like an idiot. I still don't understand how he knew I was going to choose that restaurant and that dining area. He had made reservations there two nights ago and had invited my friends up to Hamiilton. I've never mentioned that restaurant to him before. How his plan played out so perfectly will always remain a mystery. Thursday:Went out to lunch with Melody. We had great conversation and amazing authentic Chinese food (which is a rare find in Hamilton). Spent the rest of the night packing to move out of Hamilton. Friday:Met up with my HNM girls for (what I thought was) just a night out on the town. Turned out, they had planned a birthday dinner at Yorkville's Sushi Inn and then Latin dancing at Babaluu's. It was my first time trying Latin dancing and I loved every moment of it. It reminded me of my vacation to Cancun last summer. Saturday:Leash and dot planned a massive surprise party back at home! I was totally taken by surprise. (Note to self: Be more alert of my friends' secret activity). I saw friends that I hadn't seen in a very long time! I don't know how long it took to call and round everyone up, but I so appreciate the effort that they exerted in planning this huge birthday bash. I didn't see any of it coming at all. So that's my week in review. :) Thanks everyone for making it so wonderful. posted by Jenn | 5:03 PM | |
