Tuesday, August 16, 2005 Flurry of fun over the weekend. The three muskateers (Manju, Amanda, and I) decided to skip town and see what else lay outside the cosmopolitan city of St. John's :P  We visited Rodrigues Winery first. It's like the "little winery that could". Quaint little thing but produced enough wine to satisfy Texas' 10,000 bottles-a-month appetite. They made wine out of pear, blueberry, bakeapple (which is a Newfoundland favourite), plum, strawberry, and on and on. Some of it was delish...others tasted like drinking syrup. They also made brandies, liquors, and their newest concoction was iceberg vodka. SO good! Liz, this is the smoothest vodka I've ever tried in my life...better than the Grey Goose martini that night at Schmooze. I would've bought you a bottle, but they haven't put it in production yet. Manju was a sweetheart and bought a little souvenir for me to remember the winery by.  Then off to the town of Brigus to visit the Blueberry Festival. I had my first mooseburger and saw my first Puffin!  After filling ourselves with Newfoundland food and Newfoundland music, we drove to Manju's friend's place at Ryan's Pond. It's a small little cabin region where, instead of road signs, they have signs that read "Bob's Cabin" or "Joe's Cottage". It was crazy. Crazy cuz we didn't get lost. It turned out that Bob had a powerboat and after some coaxing, I decided to try waterskiing for the first time. I smacked into the water a few times...  But I got the hang of it eventually. It was awesome. Will definitely have to try it again.  It was the perfect end to a great day.  More pics will be posted up on my photo album. Stay tuned....
